Swiffer 360 Duster

Yay….Today I got a new product to test out! Proctor and Gamble sent me a Swiffer 360 Duster.  And as a cleaning monster (at least that is what my kids call me), I immediately went to work. Since I am actually at my full time job I decided to dust the office.  All I have to say is our cleaning lady has been slacking off.  After only 10 minutes of running the duster lightly over just about everything, I picked up enough dust to turn the yellow fibers a nice light brown color!  I must say that this thing is awesome.  It did not get as much dust as a spray and rag method, but for a quick dusting it works great.  When making a pro and con list one of the biggest pros was the fact that I did not have to remove each item that was sitting on the shelf/table/whatever to spray and dust.  I was also able to get inside some of my vases and even dusted the plants off with no harmful chemicals.  I will say that I may still do the spring/fall cleaning where I wash each item and dust with a rag and spray, but for the weekly cleanings and the quick touchups for when you know company is coming, I will be keeping a Swiffer on hand!

Scentsy vs Store Bought

I am so excited to do a short blog about scent warmers.  For those of you who do not know, I am a Scentsy Consultant.  I was recently shopping at one of my local stores and saw that they now sell scents and warmers for a lower price than the ones I currently sell.  I decided to buy one and try out the 'competitions' stuff.  Enlisting the help and honesty of my three young daughters, we plugged them in, turned them on, and monitored both.  They each have the same watt bulb and they each got only one square of the Scentsy fragrance for our first test.  Each warmer melted at about the same rate, and both stayed at about the same heat when touched. After turning them off and letting them cool down we then took the Scentsy fragrance out (very easy to do since i had my 4yr old do this with no mess) and tried the store bought fragrance bar.

As you can also see in the picture with the grey one being the store bought and the blue one being the Scentsy bought warmer, the Scentsy warmer is giving off more light.

We turned each warmer on and waited, not too patiently I might add!  The store bought fragrance melted and I was told right away that it smelled good but not as good as the first kind. The kids were not told which wax was which and I used the two that matched the closest in scent.  My husband even put his 2 cents in with a nice comment that it smelled like it was slightly burnt.  We turned off the warmers, let them cool and then tried to remove the wax.  The store bought wax was removed easily from the Scentsy warmer but slightly messy as it kept breaking and crumbling.  Removing the store bought wax from the store bought warmer was a bit more difficult as it tended to stick to each other.

From a personal point of view, and I know this may sound biased as I sell the Scentsy brand, I felt that the look and feel of the Scentsy warmer was of better quality.  From a performance point, the warmers matched in the test.  Cost for the store bought warmer was lower than the Scentsy one. However there were only about 10 - 20 versions of the store bought kind and only one size.  Scentsy has many different ones, in different sizes, and also features matching room sprays, car fresheners, and 'Buddies" for the kids.

With the wax it was a hands down win for Scentsy.  The scent lasted longer and smelled more pure (no wax smell).  Again there is a price difference and again there is a verity difference.  Scentsy may be slightly more expensive but in my favorite saying: you get what you pay for.  You may be saving money with the store bought product but you are giving up the quality.
